Master Yi in Action 1988
Master Mi Yi, our Master Instructor and school owner is a decendant of the last King of Korea, Sejong Yi, during the Yi Dynasty until 1911 when Korea invaded by Japan. She is also a decendant of Korean Admiral Soon Shin Yi, the inventor of the world’s first metal battleship. For Master Yi owning a martial arts school is not a business. Its a 2,000 year old family tradition. She is the only Master licensed by the world headquarters in Korea, teaching in Lake County, Florida.
Master Mi Yi was born in Nonsan, South Korea. A beautiful town in the mountains. She began martial arts training at an early age. She learned Yudo (Korean Judo), the art of throwing people and Kumdo, the Korean art of sword in elementary school and in middle school began learning Taekwondo and Hapkido. She now makes her home in Groveland, Florida and operates the oldest licensed martial arts self defense school in Clermont, Florida. In 2009 she was inducted into the “Martial Arts World Magazine Hall of Fame” for her outstanding teaching and community service.

The American Dragon Korean Martial Arts Academies school in Clermont, Florida was opened in 1992. It is the only school in Clermont that is an official branch of the World Headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.
Company Overview: What does “official branch school” mean? Simply put, that means that our school in the only one in Lake Country that is authorized to test and officially promote people to the rank of Black Belt from the World Headquarters. All other schools issue “school” rank which is worthless beyond their front door.

Best Return on Investment. I’ve been taking my kids to this school for the last 2-3 years and I have gotten a big return on my investment. The staff are great! They become an extension of your family. The business is professionally ran and I’ve very pleased. Take time out and visit..you won’t be disappointed!
Great Martial Arts School. My kids have been involved with American Dragon for 6 years. The instructors are educated and professional. They have been teaching in the area since 1992 which speaks alot for the company.
My children took classes at another school here in Clermont for a year but I just never felt like they were learning much even though they were testing for a new belt each month. My wife signed the kids up at the first school. After a year of them still not being able to do much I went to watch a class for myself. The instructor spent most of his time in the office while the class just did exercises for most of the hour. I bet they didn’t get 5 minutes of actual teaching there. At this school they follow the rules for getting rank from Korea so it is much more structured. Although it will take longer to get a black belt here I know that they will have earned it and it will come from an organization that is respected. This is the ONLY school in Clermont that I would recommend!
Wonderful School & Instructors. My son was five and a half when he started attending the school and will be eight this winter. He has really enjoyed the experience and after a few classes, wanted to continue on until he was a black belt like the instructors. They strive to make the experience a well rounded one especially for the little kids. They teach them by having fun. Most of the time the little ones do not know they are really learning. We tried my son in a couple of other schools before deciding on American Dragon Martial Arts. The other schools were more expensive and did not seem to teach them anything while they were in class. American Dragon Martial Arts taught my child the proper bow and explained the safety rules and etiquette on the first day. It is a great school of TaeKwonDo instruction and I am grateful we found it.
Thank you for all that you do for the community. Our family doctor recommended this school because our daughter was so shy that she was suffering anxiety attacks at school. Now she is full of confidence and no longer needs medication for ADHD. The Tae Kwon Do school here has been a miracle for our daughter. I was amazed to find such highly educated teachers at a martial arts school. First rate teaching and professional.
Good Taekwondo school. My son has been here for a couple of years and it has really helped him mature. Place is well run and instructors insist on respect to others and respect for the discipline of Taekwondo. Students are allowed to progress at their own pace and are not allowed to test for advancement until they have proven they are ready. They have been in business for many years and instructors are well respected professionals in the community. I have never heard any of the other parents say anything negative about them. Highly recommend!
The instructors are the best you can find. I took martial arts at other schools before moving to Florida and this is the first school that I have ever seen that has a certified Korean master instructors teaching in the school full time. There is so much personalized instruction and they always explain things thoroughly. I know from experience why people call it the Harvard of Martial Arts Schools.

I Love this school! I am a 11 year old girl and I have been taking here for about 6 years now. I am almost a black-belt in this school because I have learned so much! I started when I was only 5 and I love it! The instructors here help you a lot! Master Mi Yi is so funny and helpful! She is very patient with us and explain things cleerly! This is the funnest thing I have ever done. The classes are long enough for exercise and learning.
My daughter has been going to this school for almost a year now and is happy and has learned so much. Every class is fun and exciting and she talks about wanting to be a black belt someday. Her confidence is so high now. She has lost weight and is no longer bullied at school. This is a great place for children.
